I am a Buddhist but I follow a different Buddha. I don’t follow Siddhartha Gautama Buddha. And I don’t follow ‘Buddhism’, whatever institutional forms that takes.
I follow my own Buddha Nature.
And now I finally get it. Being a ‘Buddhist’ doesn’t necessarily mean that you follow Gautama Buddha, or ‘Buddhism’, but that you follow your own Buddha Nature, your own awakened consciousness.
Ironically, btw, this is an actual Mahayana Buddhist teaching.
This is total liberation for Queer Buddhists who are too constrained by strict adherence to Buddhist scripture and practice, oppressed by authoritarian orthodox Buddhism, Buddhism-as-a-religion.
We are free to follow our own Queer Buddha Nature, our own awakened consciousness.
